Leap Forward : Calligraphy by Yumiko Tomita

Leap Forward : Calligraphy by Yumiko Tomita

CoCollaborations is pleased to present "Leap Forward - Calligraphy by Yumiko Tomita", an exhibition featuring recent work by a Japanese calligrapher who calls herself Brushstroke Navigator.

While she owns and runs a gallery/calligraphy studio, Kotonoha, in the Kuramae area of Tokyo, she creates her own calligraphy work.

Before Yumiko first exhibited her calligraphy work in the U.S. in 2013, she was already a calligraphy master in the traditional sense. One of her works, 無尽蔵 (Inexhaustible), was included in the prestigious Mainichi Shodo (calligraphy) Exhibition this year, 2026, and it will be available at our show.

Coinciding with the solo show, Yumiko will hold three one-hour calligraphy workshops:

Yumiko Tomita showing the calligraphy set-up to a student.   Two students studying calligraphy  Yumiko Tomita and a student standing smiling in front of a display of calligraphy work

Workshop #1: September 26, 10 am
Workshop #2: September 26, 6 pm
Workshop #3: September 27, 12 pm

The list of work will be online during the week of the exhibition. Please check back.
