This vase takes its form from classical Asian storage and pouring vessels, with a generous, rounded shoulder that rises into a narrow, steady neck.
The deep, glossy, iron-rich temmoku surface breaks into subtle bronzes and soft metallic highlights along the rim, creating a quiet sense of movement as light travels across the vase.
With roots in Japan and training as an apprentice to renowned ceramic masters in Karatsu, Japan, and Minnesota, Ben Suga focuses on creating high-quality ceremonial teaware, tableware, and sculpture in his studio in the Catskill Mountains.
